Combining the social-degenerate-buddy formula (three men, one woman) with the beyond-dysfunctional-family element, Philadelphia creates scenarios that are so hysterical, wrong, appalling, familiar, embarrassing, uncomfortable, and entertaining, the show is addictive like staring at a car wreck when you know you shouldn't, but you just can't look away; it's invigorating like a fresh, loud, wake-up slap on the face. The writing, the quick timing, and the performances are so natural, one wonders if anyone is even acting (but hopes to heaven they are). Danny DeVito joined the cast in the second season, in one of the best roles on TV. DeVito is "Frank," the buddy dad that just wants to be part of the gang, the dad that looks good on paper, but the experience for his kids is more like taking care of a vicious dog that isn't potty-trained. Three of his four talented cohorts (Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, and Rob McElhenney) not only star in the series, but write it as well. Thanks to their new take on old themes and a willingness to stretch the boundaries of appropriateness and exploit the audiences' inner insecurities, originality is back on TV.--Rachel Moss
Average Rating: 5.0 Product ReviewsRating:  Meh...It typically takes a comedy a few episodes to find its voice, but I think this one found it and then lost it. The high point for me was the first season episode where the gang enables underage drinking and tries to relive high school as "cool kids" rather than losers. This episode was disturbing, complex and very funny. When Danny DeVito comes on board in seasion 2 the show quickly devolves into lots and lots of shouting matches as a substitute for comedy. Too bad. Rating:  Worst acted, most annoying characters EVER!I bought this show on a recommendation- because it was cheap and supposedly funny. I watched most of the first season and a couple of episodes from the second and could stomach no more. I kept waiting for the stories to get interesting or the characters to get enjoyable. For ANYTHING enjoyable about either one to pop up. Never happened.
Rating:  Fantastic showIt's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is just a great form of entertainment. I love the character interactions, the situations, and the stories. If there is someone out there who hasn't seen the show, its your job to enlighten them. Rating: Movie reviewMy son requested this for Christmas - i had never seen the series and found myself watching it for an hour. Very funny and enjoyable. They tackle some pretty heavy moral issues.
