And why not, since what sim doesn't need a vacation. Players choose from environments set Egypt, France or China, with the possibility of others via download. Similarly, gameplay follows the same well-worn path familiar to veteranThe Sims players, and easy to pick up for those coming to the franchise for the first time. Players create their sims as they like, customizing everything from physical characteristics, all the way down to personality traits, habits, etc. They can mix with other sims, build relationships, start families and even die. Because this expansion is based around travel, your sims can also discover rich, new cultures, develop brand-new skills and abilities and explore and adventure through realistic environments. New skills related to these destinations include photography, martial arts, and nectar making (a sim beverage) among others. As part of of the exotic locales available, sims can get adventurous and explore the caves and tombs of Egypt and China. Here they will put their new adventure related abilities to work as they participate in Indiana Jones like adventures full of excitement and even danger, including some not-so friendly mummies and the Grim Reaper. Maybe it's because you were just sort of doing the same things with a different background. BOOOOORING! This is not merely a vacation. It's an Indiana Jonesy series of adventures, which I guess is why it's not called "The Sims World Vacations". The game introduces "adventures" linear levels that, while usually involving exploration, can have simmy interaction in it as well. Explain why it's a bad thing... a bad idea? These sims are embarking on a journey into the unknown worldd and you freaking put this frustrating little linear level in front of us? This isn't4 about linearity... it's about you in your own little fantasy world, right? Oh, and there's some new skills and traits and crap... don't get me wrong, it's great... but if you're a whiny loserly geek (like me) you may object to the complete gender change. Rating: No, I'm not a middle aged house mom but I do agree with someThis game is unrealistic BS that I played for about a day before getting fed up with the crap that I had to complete to actually have a real vacation. Its a stupid game and is way off base from any EP that comes from the sims series. Why in the hell would my sims want to fight mummies and solve crap when they came on vacation to chill at a beach or go snowboarding. Sims has lost its touch. This game was created for the weirdo fans that needed levels within this series because they couldn't understand the free-will concept. I can kinda understand aliens coming down from space or even robots that clean your house, but to go and totally change the Sims into some Indiana Jones crap just pisses me off. I have played all the Sims games; I am a TRUE Sims fan and this game is by far the worst of them all(including Sims 3 with its stupid rabbit holes). The Sims is a "LIFE" SIMULATOR GAME. Rating: Very DissapointingI am a HUGE Sims fan. I've bought every expansion that has ever come out for Sims, Sims 2, and had planned on doing so for Sims 3. I bought this game about a month ago. Luckily, I have not experienced any of the glitches like a lot of the other Amazon users seem to have, and I think that may be because I have downloaded all the patches.
First off, this game comes with almost NO new items, and the ones it DOES come with are dumb in my opinion. I feel like the Sims 3 doesn't really include that many items, so that's typically the main reason that I buy expansions. I like to decorate my "Sim House" just like I would a real house, not with Mummy Tombs or Tomb Statues... What benefit are those?
Also, I think that the "traveling" is a little lame. It's not like you could just go as a family to relax or anything... You have to do missions the whole time, which are really just clicking and clicking and clicking. There's no challenges whatsoever.
I definitely think that EA missed the mark with this game. I really want to buy Sims Ambitions, but I'm afraid that it will be of equal disappoinment. Not to mention that these babies aren't cheap! Rating: Ruined my game! Saving Error 12, random crashes glitchy!Ok. The Adventures seems like EAs attempt to bring back an expansion that they already made twice. At least this time they spiced up the "Vacations" a little bit, making it into more of an Adventure.
When you get to either China, Eygpt, or France, you have a Visa (This is a game! Visa's take all the fun out of it...) which makes sure that you can only stay there a certain amount of time (So no living there...).
You can talk to people, but new recipes, explore tombs, collect gems, and of course, take care of your sims moods. This is pretty fun, not as good as some previous Sims expansions (Seasons, Open for Buisness, Vacations, Making Magic ect).
Ok now for why I gave it a one star.
My first adventure to China went glitch free. The next (real life) day, I took a trip to France. One of the sims was sleeping in a tent in the Celtic tomb. The game randomly quit. I had to restart the vacation, and made sure to save it more. It quit again while using that tent. I eventually made it past that part.
Ever since then, I have been having "Error 12" saving bug, that makes saving the game fail, and and sometimes even crash. So this has pretty much ruined my game.
It is NOT just on the new adventure neighborhoods. The glitches happen in the normal town also.
Thank you EA, for making another almost un-playable game! Rating: Short & Sweet ReviewMany others have gone into details, both bad and good, about this game, so I'll let you look elsewhere for those.
I just bought my game a little under a month ago (fortunately, it sounds like!), since it was on sale at Amazon.com. I had no problems installing or running it (I use a Mac), it seems to work just fine. I do think it's a bit strange that they've taken the game into an RPG direction, with actual quests to accept, objectives to be achieved, and puzzles to solve. I feel like I'm playing an RPG meant for children, it's a bit disconcerting. I know the rewards you get during such adventures can make a difference in the "normal" lives of your Sims (learn certain recipes, collect artwork for your home, etc), but the methods for obtaining these things... not really sure I like that! If I wanted to play an RPG, World Adventures would not be first on my list.
That being said, I'd still buy it. It's better than having NO expansion and repeatedly doing the same thing. It's not a terrible addition to the game, just a little too different from what I was looking for. I'm still hoping for Pets and College and Nightlife.. Sims 3 style!
